Wowzers! They say if you don't like the weather in North Carolina, just stick around and it will change in 3 days, but I have had no relief from this heat! I can barely keep my tongue from dragging the ground....which has been making life really hard lately because my manager, AKA Mom, has had me running around to all of these photo shoots. From what I understand, these photos are going to be part of a yearlong series of shots that will go into creating my very first calendar! Thanks to you my popularity with the ladies...and some of the gents has increased so much that The Carolina Inn will create 2011 calendars featuring yours truly in a variety of seasonal looks and dapper poses. June Is Turning Up The Heat!!!

Phew! What a summer it has been already! I don't know about you, but this heat is ridiculous! I can barely keep my tongue in my mouth from panting so much and my poor paws are in desperate need of a soothing mint pedicure after hoofing it across the scorching parking lot lately! And from what I hear, it's only going to get hotter....and when I say hotter....I mean, ON FIRE!!! It is that time folks, the time of year that is dedicated to all of our deserving daddies at The Carolina Inn...Father's Day. The heat will turn up some more this Saturday when we will have the Shadow Of The Fire Belly Dancers here for our special Father's Day Social from 2:00 ~ 3:00. Ay - Yi - Yi! I know the men have all been looking forward to that! On Sunday, June 20th, we will host our Annual Father's Day Buffet from 12:00 ~ 1:30. It is important that you make reservations if you haven't already done so because we want to make sure we have enough carved roast beef, barbeque chicken, twice baked potatoes, cole slaw, tossed salad, fresh fruit, cornbread muffins, rolls and desserts for everyone! You will be able to find me under the carving table hoping some of our dietary staff falls for my "pathetic pouty face" and slips me a couple of bites! Yum!!! Phew!!! I need to find an ac vent to lay on...so, that's enough for now! Remember to mark your calendars to come and be a part of our Father's Day Celebrations THIS WEEKEND! I'm sure all of the dads will be happy to see you!

Time For Mom

Why is there only one Mother's Day? Well, if you love your mom for everything she has done for you like I do, you would think that mother's could at least get the entire month of May off. But unfortunately they don't....so we are forced to pack a whole lot of love and appreciation into one day to make them feel extra special for everything they do. Well, here at the Carolina Inn, we believe that our mothers are to be cherished throughout the year and we have several activities coming up this week to celebrate just how much they mean to us! To make our mother's feel extra special, we are starting our Mother's Day activities THIS FRIDAY!!! On May 7th, we will have the Jack Britt Quartet performing during everyone's favorite.....Happy Hour! Be sure to come on Saturday to see the Ballroom Dancers perform. I was sniffing around the other day and came across all for the wrist corsages that will be given out that day to all of the lovely ladies in attendance! And finally...for our Grand Mother's Day Finale, we will have our delicious and highly anticipated Mother's Day Brunch Buffet! Some of the items on the menu will include: Caesar Salad & Shrimp Cocktail, Marinated Cucumber/Onion Salad, Carved Crusted Porkloin, Pineapple Glazed Chicken, Baked Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast, Tomato Cheese Grits, Sweet Potato Casserole, Braised Cabbage, baked Stuffed Tomatoes and Assorted Sweet Breads, Rolls, Fruits and Deserts! of course, we will have mimosas on hand to wash all of this goodness down. Remember that brunch starts at 12:00 and there is a small charge for adults and children. Please also be sure to RSVP to the front desk so we can save you a seat! (910) 829 - 0100. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Cornbeef & Cabbage

Have you noticed that smell at the Carolina Inn lately? Usually, I like to keep a low profile but the smell of cabbage and cornbeef hash has been everywhere in the air lately and I figured out just what it was….seems we have a little infestation problem. The other day, I was following the smell when low and behold, I saw him, dancing in Ms. Riddle's room…..with a dream in his heart, a smile in his step and a whole lot of magic! Just as soon as I saw him I knew exactly what he was! A little man, dressed in green…the tiniest thing I have ever seen! He must have arrived early from Ireland for all of the exciting events Mrs. Cathy Brown and the ladies in the activity department has planned! Our wine tasting for the month will be Irish Spirits which I think my new found friend may have already gotten into. On the 17th, Ms. Sandy in dietary has a special Irish meal of corn beef and cabbage planned and on the 19th….which I am the most excited for…we will have a very special performance from the Celtic Band for our Happy Hour! So please, please, please be sure to wear something green! Even though I’m English…the Irish have always held a special place in my heart because of their optimistic outlook on life and the beauty that comes with it. So, rather than spending the rest of the month outside looking for Four Leaf Clovers for everyone, I’ve decided to give you all a special Irish poem that has always meant a lot to me…after all, you are all more special to me than any pot of gold!

All you need to know about life, you can learn from a leprechaun.
Life is too short for long faces.
When you’re happy — sing.
When you’re sad —sing louder!
Expect magic to happen, and it will.
If you can’t find a rainbow, paint your own.
The word “impossible” is NOT an Irish word.
Never walk so tall that you can’t see the “wee folk.”
If you’re feeling blue, wear lots of green and think hopeful thoughts.
No one ever outgrows the need for warm hugs, special dreams, or a wee bit of mischief.
Quit trying to catch a leprechaun, and just BE one!

Love Is In The Air!

Love is in the air. Be it on Valentine’s Day or any other day, we always like to celebrate the gift of Love at the Carolina Inn. After all, Love is the most powerful emotion on earth and lately, it has been saturating the air. It is the most wonderful of all of the feelings! Trust me, I know…when my mom Nancy brings me to work and lets me lay at her feet…that’s when I feel the most loved!
But back to love….it is in the air! It is all around! It is in your heart! And it is time to celebrate the most loving holiday of them all, Valentine’s Day! This certainly calls for a special celebration. So please, be sure to join us THIS FRIDAY for an array of Valentine Day celebrations.
From 10:00 ~ 11:00 we invite you to our first ever Valentine Comedy Show where we will have a very funny comedian on hand to give your friends and family one of the best gifts around; laughter. This is sure to be a treat!
Later on in the afternoon, from 4:00 ~ 5:00 we will welcome the Jack Britt Quartet for a very special Happy Hour! So please make plans to join us and express this wonderful feeling of love to your friends and family. Oh, and don’t forget to WEAR RED!!!!
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone THIS FRIDAY! Don’t forget that a hug expresses true feelings and it is one of the best things that you can do with your arms….so I will be excepting hugs all afternoon!
